St.
Gabriel Radio is a non-profit corporation that has been given
non-profit status by the Internal Revenue Service. We
rely upon the donations of Catholic community leaders and lay
people alike throughout the Diocese of Columbus to support
our effort to bring Catholic radio to central Ohio.
What We MUST Do According
to the Church
The Bishops of Vatican II Council have taught that
the main purpose of Catholic radio "is to spread and defend
the truth" (Inter
Mirifica, 17). The Church has also
taught: "Efforts should be made to establish stations.
It should be a matter of concern that their offerings excel in
professional quality and forcefulness" (Inter
Mirifica,
14).
Pope Paul VI has taught about mass media, including radio:
"When they are put at the service of the Gospel, they are
capable of increasing almost indefinitely the area in which the
Word of God is heard; they enable the Good News to reach millions
of people."
Just as the
gospel has to be proclaimed in a language that people can understand,
so also it must be delivered by means that people have access
to. Radio is a nice constant means
of communication for many people. The Church and its message
belong there! |
