About our Patron: St. Gabriel the Arch Angel

We chose Saint Gabriel as our Patron Saint as He is the Patron Saint of Communication workers throughout the world.

He is known as a messenger and is mentioned four times in Sacred Scripture:

He first appears to Daniel as a man and interprets a vision Daniel has had of a ram with two horns, which is overwhelmed by a he-goat.  Saint Gabriel explains that the ram is the empire of the Medes and the Persians which will be destroyed by the he-goat, the king of the Greeks (Alexander the Great).  This vision came to Daniel in the year 554BC, while the Israelites were in captivity in Babylonia.  The prophecy was fulfilled almost 200 years later.

Saint Gabriel appears again to Daniel to prophesize the coming of the Messiah and the destruction of Jerusalem.

The third appearance of Saint Gabriel is recorded in Luke 1:11-20, where he predicts to Zachariah that his wife is to bear a son whose name shall be John.

Finally, later in St. Luke's Gospel, Saint Gabriel visits the Blessed Virgin Mary with the message that she will be the Mother of the Messiah.  We see that Saint Gabriel is the bearer of good tidings as the comforter and helper of men.

Saint Gabriel's feast day is shared with Saint Michael and Saint Raphael on September 29th.

Blessed Saint Gabriel the Archangel
Patron Saint of Communication Workers

We beseech you to intercede for us at the
throne of divine mercy:
As you announced the mystery of
the Incarnation to Mary,
so through your prayers
may we receive strength of faith
and courage of spirit,
and thus find favor with God
and redemption through Christ Our Lord.
May we sing the praise of God our Savior
with the angels and saints in heaven
forever and ever. Amen.
